FIR Saunas VS Steam.

By Benjamin Andrews

There is a new movement emerging that many of us are not aware of yet. People across the globe are opening their homes to Far Infrared Ray (FIR) Saunas. Traditionally people have sought out steam saunas, but that is changing. Let's see if we can figure out why.

Infrared saunas work by using the some of the invisible natural rays that come from the sun. By using the only the healthy rays our bodies are able to directly absorb large quantities of infrared ray light, all to our benefit. Steam saunas simply heat the air around us which leads to the breathing difficulties that many of us are familiar with. FIR saunas can accomplish at the low temperature of 160-175F (70-80C), what the steam saunas must heat up to around 200F (95C) to do.

The softer heat of FIR saunas penetrates deeper into the body (2-3 in. or 5-8 cm. deep) which enhances the effects of muscle relaxation. This deeply absorbed infrared heat draws out more toxins than the heat from a steam sauna.

Infrared saunas offer a more sanitary way to sweat out your body's toxins. Since dry heat is mold and mildew free infrared saunas are more sanitary and will not spread and cultivate bacteria like a traditional humid sauna.

The sweat that we generate during a steam sauna contains mostly water, roughly98 %. At the same time, the sweat from infrared saunas in only around 80% water, which means a lot more unwanted toxins are leaving our bodies. Materials often found in the FIR sauna sweat are sodium, ammonia, heavy metals, uric acid etc.

Since infrared heaters operate at a much lower temperature and still remain effective, they require much less energy to operate. Infrared technology is about 4-5 times more efficient than traditional methods of heating. Consuming less than 5 cents per kilowatt hour (varies by area), the infrared heater is easy on the wallet.

FIR saunas can be portable. Their portability makes them hugely popular. Having the option to pack up your sauna and take it with you is definitely a convenience that sets infrared saunas apart from steam.

The many amazing health benefits and ease of use make far infrared ray saunas and easy sell. They seem poised to overtake the popularity of traditional steam saunas. - 31816
