How Do I know If I Need a Detox?

By Rosemary Gooding

In spite of today's advances in modern technologies and much improved medical knowledge facilities, we still have the mindset that detox and in particular bowel management is just not nice to talk about and we subconsciously seem to think if we don't discuss it the problem will go away. Unfortunately it won't, in fact we are aggravating and accelerating the toxic condition of our bodies due in part to poor eating habits such as fast food and sugary drinks all designed to simplify our busy lifestyles, but not helping us at all in maintaining a healthy body.

Our body is an amazing machine if only we gave it a bit of help. But we don't listen or choose to ignore the signs that the body is in distress. We have got so used to living with constipation, feeling sluggish and tired, not sleeping properly, acne, bad breath etc. that we just continue going down the same old path. We do get a bit worried when the weight starts piling on and sometime even make a half hearted effort to get rid of it, but then we go back to our old bad habits again without ever really understanding we needed a colon cleanse or at least some form of detox to give us a proper chance at fixing the problems.

Once your system become toxic all of your organs involved in the cleaning process start to become distressed, and why wouldn't they after all you are expecting them to work harder and yet are still pushing garbage at them, just increasing the problem instead of mitigating it. Its no wonder some of them eventually go on strike or collapase under the pressure resulting in illness and diseases such as colon cancer, Irritable Bowel Syndrome, Bowel Cancer. The good news is that some of these ailments can be stopped or cured if the right action is taken in time.

There are particular organs in your body that deal with waste management. These organs play a major role in the detoxing process for a fit and healthy body. Your liver converts ammonia from broken-down proteins into urea, which can then be excreted through the kidneys. If not for this, toxic levels of ammonia would build up in the body. It produces bile, which helps with the digestion of fats. (The gallbladder only stores bile; it doesn't make it.) Additionally the liver helps clean the blood and is responsible for detoxifying chemicals, hormones, and molecules in the body.

The lymph glands also play an important role in eliminating toxins. A network of tubing exports excess waste from cells in the body to the necessary elimination organs. The appendix, thymus, tonsil, and spleens are major lymphatic glands that help the major organs of the body in cleansing and detoxing.

Kidneys help in water management in the body, they maintain the good chemistry of the blood alkaline by eliminating the dissolved acid waste. You can help your kidneys function better by drinking plenty of water. The best options are fresh alkaline juices and purified water. You may take ounce of alkaline everyday and expect to see positive results in your body weight.

The lungs are the organs that keep the blood air purified, they transport oxygen directly to the bloodstream. Your lungs are also responsible in removing the waste gases found in every cell of the body. Deep breathing and fresh air is very helpful in keeping the lungs healthy and free from toxins. If you live in an urban area, try taking a trip when possible to a less polluted area where you can indulge in some deep breathing of fresh oxygenated air.

Imagine how much better you will feel knowing you have, reduced the amount of toxins and pollution in your system. A detox will improve your immune system ability, eliminate toxins, strengthen the body's fight against cancer cells and generate healthy cells. In addition you will be rid of those debilitating problems like constipation, tiredness, lack of sleep, lack of energy and skin problems.

There is a lot of information available about different types of detox programs and what each can do to help you. Choose wisely as not every program is right for everyperson, make sure you choose the one that is suitable for you. - 31816
